We are currently compiling an overview of the online courses offered by the faculty of Electical Engineering and Information Technology. We are trying to implement this as soon as possible.

Incomings: By request, we will send your transcripts of records as a scan to your home university and to you. If you need the original document, please send us an email with the postal address (home university or your address) to which we should send the document.
Outgoings: If you need any signed documents from us for your application to a host university, please send us these by email. We will then sign them and send them back by email.

FAQ Wintersemester 2020/21
When does the semester start and how?
Also in the winter semester 2020/21 the courses will be offered mainly online.
For students in the first semester, lectures will start on November 2, 2020, and before that, the introductory week for first semester students will start on October 26, 2020. For all other students, lectures will start on 26.10.2020.
Especially for first semester students, smaller lectures will be held in classroom form in order to get a good start in their studies and to get to know their fellow students personally. All major events will be held as online events, unless otherwise announced.
The lecture period ends for all students on 12.2.2021.

Online winter semester 2020/21 - do I have to be on site?
Please check in RWTHmoodle before the beginning of the semester which courses are held in attendance. These are especially events with few participants (possibly small group exercises, internships, projects etc. depending on the risk situation). An overview can be found in the table for courses.
Even virtual lectures have very real exams, which are almost completely in attendance. Written exams are written in lecture halls of the RWTH and oral exams also take place mainly in rooms of the RWTH.
Do internships take place as online or on-site events?
The project of the first semester "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology" (MatLAB meets LEGO Mindstorms) will be postponed from winter semester 2020/21 to summer semester 2021 due to recent events.
The internship "Electrical Engineering 2" of the bachelor program will take place in presence according to the current planning status.
For information about the internships in the fifth semester of the Bachelor's program, please contact RWTHmoodle or the faculty advisors in time. It depends on your chosen field of study whether the internships take place online or in person.
How do I know which lectures will take place online and which ones will be on site?
Do I need my own account in order to use Zoom?
You do not need a separate account for Zoom to participate in courses. However, if you are planning your own zoom events, for example, to join together in learning groups, you can obtain a free zoom license from the RWTH as a student.
To obtain a license, the following steps are necessary:
Step 1: Open Zoom Client or visit the website zoom.us.
Step 2: Click on "Register by SSO" under Login.
Step 3: Enter "rwth" in the text field so that it says rwth.zoom.us.
Step 4: Log in with your RWTH Single Sign On data. The activation can take up to 24h.

What kind of support is available for orientation for freshmen?
Please participate in the introduction week. There you will receive all the necessary information and the tutor groups will be divided up. These groups will be lead by students of higher semesters, which will give you a personal contact person. In addition to information about the program, there will also be a general introduction to RWTH and Aachen University. There will be special information for freshmen in RWTHmoodle.
In case of uncertainties and difficulties regarding the digital semester, the faculty will also be available to advise you. The staff of the contact points at our faculty and at RWTHmoodle will be happy to help you.
Studying alone in the first semester is a challenge. How can I communicate with other students?
During the introductory week, groups of tutors will be formed and you will get to know some of your fellow students personally. If possible, take part in all classroom sessions.
The student council provides a discord server, which allows you to communicate with other students in a casual way and organizes events where you can meet fellow students across the tutorials.
How do I know which measures are up-to-date?
Please inform yourself independently and regularly on the corresponding websites, read your e-mails, get informed in RWTHmoodle and most importantly, keep in touch with your fellow students.
Do not hesitate to contact your lecturers or the faculty's advisory offices if you have any uncertainties or difficulties regarding the online semester.
Will there be a free attempt regulation this wintersemester?
According to the AStA, the rectorate of the RWTH has decided to continue the free attempt regulation from for the winter semester 2020/21. The regulation states that students who do not pass an exam, will not receive a failed attempt, given that the exam has been properly taken and no attempt to cheat has been determined.
The only change for the winter semester 2020/21 will be that it will no longer be possible to de-register from an exam immediately before it begins, but 24 h in advance.
