Who can act as a UROP Supervisor/Mentor?

Professors, researchers, postdocs and doctoral students from all fields of study at US and Canadian universities or research institutions may act as UROP Abroad research mentors.

UROP Project Database

You can advertise your research project in the UROP Project Database and define requirements which need to be met by the candidate, such as language skills and subject-specific qualifications. You may also specify the duration and minimum working hours required for a project within UROP Abroad. UROP Abroad accepts new research projects on a continuous basis throughout the year.

We do recommend that you enter your project in our database approximately six months before you would like your UROP Abroad research assistant to begin. The duration for a UROP Abroad project is between two and six months.

Application Process

Students who meet the project requirements can register online in the database and send their application to the RWTH International Office. The International Office will review the application and then forward it on to you, so that you can make a decision. If there is more than one applicant for the UROP position in your research team, you will have the opportunity to select the most suitable candidate.

Your Role as a UROP Mentor

During the project you are the student's main contact person for all technical questions regarding the project. The International Office is responsible for all organizational matters. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us anytime.
