Your way to a Master application

Below you will find explanations on the application process for your Master degree program "Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Computer Engineering". The following steps are necessary:

  • First proof the requirements of the Master degree program EE, IT, CE.
  • Then please register on the university platform RWTHonline. Detailled information about the registration process can be found here.
  • Apply via the RWTHonline platform for the (1-Subject) Master degree program "Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Computer Engieering" and then choose one out of the six majors. Here, you can find general instructions on how to apply for a Master program.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Since all application are depending on where you completed your first university degree, we provide specific information about on master applications from students with a German degree or from students with an international degree.

 

Application routes for different target groups

Students of Bachelor Sc: ET, IT, TI at RWTH Aachen University

Graduates of our "own" Bachelor's program also have to apply. In this case, the examination of professional suitability is always positive, i.e. all Bachelor graduates of the Bachelor degree program in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Computer Engineering at RWTH Aachen University are admitted to the corresponding Master's program. You studied at a German University or you studied as German citizen at a foreign university?

You have obtained your Bachelor's degree in "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology", "Computer Engineering" or a comparable German-language degree program at a German university or university of applied sciences and would like to continue your studies with the Master's degree program "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology"? Then you are considered to be a resident of Germany. Your nationality is irrelevant. Or you are a German citizen and have completed your first degree abroad.

In addition to your personal details and your previous university education, we also need information from you about which major you would like to apply for within the Master's program and how you think you fulfilled the admission requirements. To do so, it is necessary to complete the supplement to the application form for the Master's program in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Computer Engineering.

Please submit your application documents in due time, i.e. by July 15th for the following winter semester or by January 15th for the following summer semester, to the address given in the online application form.

Online application

You have a citizenship from an EU/EEA state but you did not study in Germany?

Please apply through the online application portal of RWTH Aachen University.

Please apply by July 15th for the following winter semester or by January 15th for the upcoming summer semester.

In a first step, your application documents will be checked formally by the International Office, e.g., regarding the status of your degree and the university in which you completed it and the required language skills.

The application documents will be internally forwarded to the Examination Board of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technoloy for the further check of the technical qualification.

You are an international student (non-EU/EEA) who did not study in Germany?

Please apply via the university's online application portal.

Please note, the application deadline is the March 1st for the following winter semester or September 1st for the following summer semester.

As a first step, the details of your application documents, for instance the status of your first university degree and language skills, are checked formally by the International Office.

Afterwards, the application documents are INTERNALLY forwarded to the Examination Board of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology for any further checks of the technical qualifications.
