Our Profile

The increase of renewable energies in Germany, Europe and worldwide poses technical challenges for the equipment and components as well as protection and control of future grids. At the IAEW's Chair of High Voltage Equipment and Technology we are therefore researching with about 20 scientists for a safe, climate-friendly and reliable electrical energy system of the future. In the three research groups "Insulation Systems", "Primary Technology & Diagnostics" and "DC Systems", we deal with the electrical energy system from different perspectives: from the material level of insulation systems to operating equipment and switchgear to entire DC networks with a propagation of several 100 km. In doing so, we use the intensive exchange between our individual research groups and the entire institute to jointly develop and research innovative solutions.

Your Profile

You own a very good university degree (master's degree or comparable) with the main field in electrical engineering or a related field of study. You have at least a B1 level of command in German language and would like to improve it.

You bring fun and passion for researching latest issues in the field of electrical power engineering. You have good organizational and teamwork skills and are willing to take responsibilities of research projects.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

Your tasks include the realization and acquisition of current research projects in the field of electrical power engineering.

Depending on your interests and the research project, different methods will be applied. Such as experimental research, simulation of physical processes or modeling of whole system engineering processes. In addition, you will support university teaching by supervising courses as well as project and final theses.

What We Offer

The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term initially 1 year.
An extension for 4 years is planned.
This is a full-time position.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position.
The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).
The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.
