Honorary Doctorate for Prof. Rainer Waser
The Silesian University of Katowice/Poland awarded Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rainer Waser an honorary doctorate on January 22nd, 2015.
During the ceremony Prof. Dr. Andrzej Ślebarski emphasized in his laudation the scientific achievements of Waser: "Professor Waser's enormous contribution to the development of ferroelectric materials and thin films has gained worldwide recognition, which is why he was awarded the Gottfried Wilhelm Leipzig Prize last year. His work on resistive switches as storage devices in information technology ultimately opens up new ways of building even smaller storage elements."
In addition, Ślebarski referred to Waser's significant contribution to the establishment of future-oriented international research structures and cooperations. The Katowice Institute of Physics also works excellently with Waser's team at RWTH and also with Forschungszentrum Jülich.
