New: “Future Electrical Networks”-Consortium

The research campus Electrical Networks of the Future, FEN for short, is entering its first main phase: Over the next five years, a research consortium set up specifically for this purpose will investigate the role that direct current technology can play in the expansion of transmission and distribution networks. Ultimately, the development of affordable solutions for grid expansions that are accepted by the population is crucial to the success of the energy system transformation.
15 chairs of RWTH Aachen and eleven industrial partners work together in this consortium on the campus of Aachen University. Members of the Advisory Board are Prof. Rik W. De Doncker (ISEA), Antonello Monti (ACS) and Albert Moser (IAEW).
