Prof. Leonhardt Honored with Membership in the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts
Steffen Leonhardt (holder of the Philips Chair for Medical Information Technology) was accepted into the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts on May 21st. During the annual celebration at the headquarters of the Academy in Düsseldorf, the certificate of appointment as a full member was handed over by the President of the institution, Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. Hanns Hatt.
The North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts is an association of outstanding researchers of the federal state. It advises the state government and sees the promotion and supervision of long-term basic research as one of its central tasks. A further obligation is to take up and discuss the complex scientific, economic and ethical problems and questions with which our society is confronted and to prepare decisions in politics and society with the results obtained. Publications and regular events provide the public with a plaform for knowledge transfer and dialogue.
