Conference Contribution: Wearables for Cars

How would you feel if your car knew detailed information about your insides, such as the regularity of your heartbeat and the amount of glucose in your blood?

During an IEEE conference in Eindhoven, the Ford Research and Innovation Center Aachen presented important results, stemming from the cooperation with RWTH Philips Chair for Medical Information Technology.

To give an example: In future cars, electrocardiography readers will be integrated into the dirver's seat. While the ECG systems used in hospitals use electrodes attached to the skin, this contactless system records its signals through the driver’s clothes. With every heartbeat, an electrical signal ripples through the heart’s muscle cells.
